Scores in his eighth straight; Andersen makes 31 saves for Toronto
Auston Matthews scored in his eighth consecutive game, breaking a tie midway through the third period for the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 3-1 win against the Vancouver Canucks at Scotiabank Arena on Monday.
Matthews made it 2-1 at 9:22 when he one-timed a pass from Mitchell Marner in the slot for his NHL-leading 11th goal. It was his 300th NHL point and extended his personal point streak to 10 games (13 points; 10 goals, three assists).
Frederik Andersen made 31 saves for the Maple Leafs (9-2-1), who are on an eight-game point streak (7-0-1) and swept a three-game set against the Canucks.

Pettersson tied it 1-1 at 9:59 of the second period when he scored on the power play from the high slot.
The Canucks outshot the Maple Leafs 13-4 in the first period and 27-7 through the second.
