“The Toronto Marlies defeated the Abbotsford Heat, AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, by a score of 5-0 this afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum. The win marked Toronto’s sixth victory in their last seven games.
Ryan Hamilton opened the scoring just past the midway point of the first period. Abbotsford outshot Toronto 10-6 in the opening frame. The Marlies would add to their lead in the second period with Nazem Kadri recording his second goal of the season and 11th point in his last five games, at the 2:03 mark. The Heat outshot the Marlies 8-6 in the middle period. Toronto would extend the lead once again in the third period with goals coming from Nicolas Deschamps, Matt Frattin and Will Acton in a span of eight minutes.
Toronto now heads out on a four-game road trip, with games against Binghamton, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Hershey and Rochester. The road trip begins in Binghamton this coming Thursday with puck drop set for 6 p.m. The Marlies return home on Saturday, December 1 for a 7 p.m. game against the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres.
