The Penguins will sign Evgeni Malkin to an eight-year, $76 million contract extension. The deal can’t become official until July 5th. The deal carries a $9.5 million salary cap hit, the second highest in the NHL behind Alex Ovechkin’s $9.538 million. It won’t kick in until after next season.
