Player Profile

Corey Pronman – The Athletic – June 10th: “He’s huge at 6-foot-6 and quite athletic in how easily he gets around the ice. That athleticism is also why he is being recruited as a D-1 football player. He’s a better hockey prospect than football prospect, but he’s been indecisive in discussions with teams about which sport he prefers.”

Scott Wheeler – The Athletic – June 2nd: “You can see some of the natural athleticism in his skating (which could still use another step but isn’t awkward for his size), handling and dexterity. He can make plays into space and can catch and tip pucks. He also sees the ice well and plays the game with good poise and his eyes up, though there’s even some room to grow and develop his game there as well.”

Steven Ellis – Daily Faceoff – May 27th: “Every time I watch him, he finds a way to get better. The upside is tremendous, and he doesn’t struggle with traits that some other big forwards can, including slower hands and feet. A team looking to swing big could take West much higher in the second round.”

Jason Bukala – Sportsnet – March 26th: “Zharovsky is one of my sleepers in this draft class. He’s an elusive offensive winger who’s a consistent threat to score at even strength and the power play. His skating stride is solid, he now needs to add more strength which will lead to better separation in open ice. (45GP-24G-26A)”

Smaht Scouting – March 23rd: “He brings quick-thinking and creative problem-solving under pressure, with a quick and fluid dynamic range of movement in his handling, impressive playmaking, and a dangerous shot release that he could stand to use more often; and those to me are at a higher level with him than some of the guys higher up on this list, and it’s a skillset I’m willing to bet on pretty high in this draft.”

EliteProspects 2025 NHL Draft Guide: Beyond his imposing frame, West is a fluid skater with effortless extension, and the reach and skill combination to make high-level plays. A natural shooter, he loads his shots from the hip, using upper-body torque and frame transfer to generate power.
