Nicholas Robertson had two goals and an assist for the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 6-3 win against the Ottawa Senators at CAA Arena on Friday.
Victor Mete, Denis Malgin and Nicolas Aube-Kubel each had a goal and an assist, and Ilya Samsonov made 18 saves for Toronto.
Parker Kelly, Drake Batherson and Angus Crookshank scored, and Anton Forsberg made 27 saves for Ottawa.
The Maple Leafs scored three goals in a span of 1:51 in the first period to take a 3-0 lead.
Robertson opened the scoring from between the circles at 7:54, Aube-Kubel made it 2-0 at 8:29 off a rebound at the left post, and Mete pushed it to 3-0 from the high slot at 9:45.
Kelly cut it to 3-1 at 19:33 before Batherson brought the Senators to within 3-2 with a power-play goal at 9:29 of the second period.
Malgin scored his third goal of the preseason at 9:00 of the third period to restore Toronto’s two-goal lead.
Robertson then scored his third of the preseason on the power play to make it 5-2 at 17:30, and Justin Holl shot into an empty net 29 seconds later to extend the lead to 6-2.
Crookshank scored with 16 seconds remaining for the 6-3 final.
