TOR has signed Harri Sateri, who won gold with Finland. He must clear waivers.

Sateri contract with TOR is a one-way at $750K

Goaltender Harri Sateri has signed with the #leafs for the remainder of the season, subject to clearing waivers. He's on the waiver wire today.
Sateri had a standout season with KHL Novosibirsk Sibir and won Olympic gold with Finland in Beijing.

As the #LeafsForever discuss moving Travis Dermott, I’m told the blueliner had requested a trade earlier in the season. He has 1-year ($1.5M AAV) left on his contract after this season.
— David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) March 20, 2022
How many holes can Kyle Dubas plug before the trade deadline?
Plus, the end of the Travis Dermott era, the lingering Jack Campbell question mark, and to deal or not to deal a 1st round pick.

The #SeaKraken have agreed to trade D Mark Giordano to the #LeafsForever. @ryanlesliemedia was first on this.

Keefe on Giordano when Seattle was here 2 weeks ago: "He has been a very good player in the league for a long time. He’s versatile and helps teams in all sorts of ways. He has great character.”#Leafs
— Terry Koshan 🇺🇦 (@koshtorontosun) March 20, 2022
Brodie on Giordano, on Friday: "Can't say enough good things about him. He's a great guy on and off the ice, his dedication and work ethic. He's an unbelievable guy." #Leafs
— Terry Koshan 🇺🇦 (@koshtorontosun) March 20, 2022
Mark Giordano was not drafted by an NHL team. Since then he’s…
Won a Norris Trophy.
Won Mark Messier award for leadership.
Became an all-star.
Became a leader on and off the ice in Calgary.
Got to play for his hometown team in Toronto. He’s kind of awesome.

Good amount excitement from some Leafs players I’ve connected with about the acquisition of Giordano. He’ll fit in nicely in that room.

Per what I’m told, an update on the reported @MapleLeafs and @SeattleKraken trade for Giordano and Colin Blackwell ; The @MapleLeafs are doing some salary cap gymnastics to make the money work for this deal to go final. @espn @NHLNetwork #HockeyTwitter

Colin Blackwell should bring some strong defensive acumen to Toronto's bottom six pic.twitter.com/2UjySRICE5

Colin Blackwell, traded to TOR, is a defensive bottom six forward with an accurate shot. #LeafsForever pic.twitter.com/IemJNNqE0A
— JFresh (@JFreshHockey) March 20, 2022
I really like Blackwell's game. Works really hard, can actually keep up and complement high-end talent, brings solid two-way play wherever he slots. Also a strong power killer.
Wrote about him as a 'next Goodrow' type acquisition recently: https://t.co/tATf2acOtR https://t.co/mfrlUaUNRp

I think the delay has to do with having to wait until 5 pm ET from a Leafs’ cap/roster perspective and Mrazek being on waivers. https://t.co/wt3ajSYDUQ

TRADE: We’ve acquired Winnipeg's third-round selection in the 2022 NHL Draft from Vancouver in exchange for defenceman Travis Dermott. #LeafsForever
— Toronto Maple Leafs (@MapleLeafs) March 20, 2022
Multiple draft picks involved. https://t.co/D7ieDtr5pG
— Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) March 20, 2022
Waiting until after 5pm ET to complete the Giordano trade would definitely provide some additional flexibility for the #Leafs in terms of creating the space needed to fit him under the cap.
It would give them the benefit of saving Clifford and Mrázek's cap space if they clear.
— CapFriendly (@CapFriendly) March 20, 2022
How does this work?
The cap is calculated daily at 5pm. Teams can temporarily exceed the cap between 5pm spans.
Toronto can exceed the upper limit after 5pm today. Wait for waivers to clear tomorrow at 2pm, send those players down and be compliant for 5pm tomorrow. https://t.co/DQLXsviNhf
— CapFriendly (@CapFriendly) March 20, 2022
Giordano and Blackwell go to TOR. 2 second-rounders are highest picks in return to SEA

Mark Giordano (traded to Toronto) is a good defensive player, both at 5v5 and 4v5, with a very good shot. pic.twitter.com/xKVZdReeP8
— Micah Blake McCurdy (@IneffectiveMath) March 20, 2022
Colin Blackwell, also to Toronto in the deal, is another good shot but with some fairly serious defensive liabilities. pic.twitter.com/j4GNO1tkLH

50% retained on Giordano. Just based on the numbers it seems likely Kase is on LTIR until playoffs, leaving enough room to activate Muzzin. https://t.co/hqcPCl4r1U pic.twitter.com/hZTWfOPaOA

And there it is. Like I suggested, picks are spread out. Toronto still has the following draft capital:

2024: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th https://t.co/mR0WJIt5n5— Kyle Cushman (@Kyle_Cush) March 20, 2022
