The Maple Leafs will make changes, but how significant will they be?
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman last week on how significant changes could be for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
“I think they’re going to go out and try to get the best player who does what they don’t have if they can. I think they’re going to try go get, whether it’s a goalie, defenceman, or another forward, somebody who’s the best available they can get their hands on and they’ll all work from there. I’m really curious to see what that is and then I think a lot of the decisions about what they’re gonna do with the rest of their lineup is probably after the cap considerations for someone they decide to go out and get.”
Friedman added:
“I do think there’s going to be changes. How many more shots do you have with this group on ice and around the organization? Does this not seem like the point where the Raptors traded DeRozan for Leonard? I think we’re there. I don’t know if they’ll do something like that this year, but I think they’re running out of chances to go out with this group.
Ranking potential options in net for the Maple Leafs
Jonas Siegel and James Mirtle of The Athletic: Though it’s possible, it seems unlikely that Frederik Andersen will be back next season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jack Campbell will have new partner in net next year. The Leafs will be looking for some to share and possibly take over if need be.
Tuukka Rask and Philipp Grubauer are not included as it’s assumed they’ll re-sign with the Bruins and Avalanche.

Bruins trying to extend Hall with the Maple Leafs having an interest as well
TSN: Darren Dreger said that the Boston Bruins are talking to Taylor Hall‘s camp about a contract extension, but adds the Toronto Maple Leafs are among the teams interested in Hall as well.
“(Bruins general manager Don Sweeney has) engaged in discussions about an extension for Taylor Hall with his agent Darren Ferris. This shouldn’t come as breaking news, there was interest from the Boston standpoint prior to making the trade with the Buffalo Sabres.
“But there’s outside interest as well, including from the Toronto Maple Leafs, which may surprise some. Toronto has interest, I’m sure, if they can’t get Zach Hyman signed, or depending on what happens with Freddy Andersen.
“There are a lot of teams with interest in Taylor Hall but he’d like to extend his time in Boston.”
