News and Rumours
Hearing again today that #LetsGoOilers and #LeafsForever discussed a large trade that would've seen defenseman Adam Larsson end up in Toronto and Connor Brown end up in Edmonton. There were lots of moving pieces and that's likely why it didn' happen. Could revisit in offseason.

Kreider, 27, has 24 goals and 44 points in 59 games this season. He is currently on pace for a career-best 33 goals and 61 points this season and is averaging a career-high 17:33 of ice time with the Rangers.
The 2009 first-round pick of the Rangers is signed through next season at a cap hit of $4.625 million and has an 11-team no-trade list in his contract.

Sportsnet: The Toronto Maple Leafs and pending restricted free agent forward Kasperi Kapanen are set to talk contract extension early this upcoming week.
“This week Markus Lehto, representative for Kasperi Kapanen, will be in Toronto once the Leafs get back from this six-game road trip that they’re on and I think there will be some preliminary talks on where he stands with the Leafs,” said Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston during the Headlines segment of Hockey Night in Canada Saturday. “It won’t be an official meeting to have a contract discussion, but I do believe the Leafs would like to get Kasperi Kapanen’s contract extension done sooner than later, if at all possible.
“So we’ll see if there’s any traction after that meeting next week.”
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Bob McKenzie was on TSN 1050 talking about the Toronto Maple Leafs potentially looking for a depth defenseman.
Last week McKenzie wondered about Detroit Red Wings Nick Jensen. This week McKenzie wonders about New York Rangers defenseman Adam McQuaid.
“Real hard rock, more of a depth defenseman, more of a 5-6-7, but brings an element that the Leafs and other teams look for at the deadline. There’s no question in my mind that the Rangers are going to trade him.”
McKenzie thinks the Rangers believe they may be able to get a fourth and seventh round pick for McQuaid, the same picks they gave up for him – plus Steve Kampfer – before the season started.
“Now whether the Leafs are in on that or whatever – but those are the types of deals that might make more sense than trying to do a blockbuster or what have you.”
Leafs have also made inquiries into Kevin Hayes.
Coyle has still not officially been told that he has been traded to the Bruins, I'm told. Just that he has been traded.
But again, it's Coyle for Donato and a fifth

Leafs & Hayes? PHI & D? Habs, Duchene, Simmonds, Coyle dealt to BOS

- According to a well placed source, the Flyers have had some discussions with Minnesota regarding Spurgeon and NJ regarding Lovejoy…
-
The Canadiens have inquired about Eric Staal…
-
Wayne Simmonds is garnering a ton of interest: Tampa, Nashville and Boston…
-
Duchene could be heading to Nashville, but the Islanders and Blue Jackets are still in this as well…
-
