Dermott, Sparks propel Maple Leafs past Penguins

Travis Dermott had a goal and an assist for the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 3-2 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Scotiabank Arena on Saturday.
Auston Matthews and Zach Hyman scored, and Jake Gardiner had two assists for the Maple Leafs (31-17-3), who are 2-2-1 in their past five games. Garret Sparks made 28 saves.
Sidney Crosby and Teddy Blueger scored, and Matt Murray made 30 saves for the Penguins (28-18-6), who had won two in a row.
Hyman gave the Maple Leafs a 3-2 lead at 16:06 of the second period when he put in a rebound off a shot from Morgan Rielly.
The Penguins took a 1-0 lead at 10:01 of the first period when Crosby one-timed a pass from Kris Letang from the right face-off dot on the power play.
Blueger made it 2-0 at 13:20 when he got to a loose puck at the left face-off dot and shot over Sparks’ glove.
Matthews brought the Maple Leafs within 2-1 at 17:25, putting in a rebound at the side of the net off a point shot from Dermott.
Dermott tied it 2-2 at 9:36 of the second period. Patrick Marleau won a face-off back to Gardiner who passed to Dermott for a one-timer.
