The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Sunday that the club has claimed defenceman Tim Erixon off waivers from the Chicago Blackhawks.
Erixon, 24, has played for both the Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets this season. The Port Chester, New York native was held pointless in eight regular season games with the Blackhawks and registered six points (one goal, five assists) in 19 regular season games with the Blue Jackets earlier this year. Erixon was originally drafted in the first round (23rd overall) by the Calgary Flames during the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
The Maple Leafs return to the ice tonight when they travel to Washington for a 7 p.m. game against the Capitals.
