Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier will be sporting an old-school look when he straps on the pads with his new team this season.
InGoal Magazine got a behind the scenes look at Bernier’s new retro-inspired gear at the Reebok CCM Goalie Summit in Montreal on Tuesday. Along with the all-white pads seen below, Bernier also has a tan pair on order for the Winter Classic.
The 25-year-old Laval, Que., native also teased his new mask on Tuesday, which at first glance appears to be a blue version of the design he used in Los Angeles.
Bernier will battle with incumbent James Reimer for playing time in Toronto this season after being acquired from Los Angeles earlier this summer, giving the Leafs a formidable tandem in save percentage and style.
