Paul Gackle of The Mercury News: There was a report that the Sharks had offered John Tavares a contract at over $13 million per season.
According to a report out of Canada, the Sharks offered Tavares a contract with an average-annual salary north of $13 million a year, a deal that would have made him among the league’s top-five highest-paid players.
Told the Sharks ended up offering more than $13M per season for Tavares. The Islanders upped their offer from $11M per to $11.25M.
