Auston Matthews scored with 31 seconds left to lift the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 3-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday.
William Nylander appeared to be taking the puck behind the net, but he cut in front and passed to Matthews, who beat goalie Petr Mrazek with a wrist shot just under the crossbar.
“I looked at [Nylander] and we both were like, ‘Finally,'” Matthews said. “We’ve had a lot of chances in the last couple games and had a bunch more tonight, but nothing was going in. It was nice to finish that one off.”
