Frederik Andersen made 44 saves and stopped six of seven shootout attempts to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 3-2 win against the Nashville Predators at Air Canada Centre on Wednesday.
“It was a tough game, there’s not a lot of space out there,” Andersen said. “They play a good style of hockey with good defensemen. We didn’t have much room, but I think we did a good job as well. Their goals came out of some tough bounces, but that’s how the hockey is going to be like going down the stretch. It was a good test for us, I think we played well.”
James van Riemsdyk scored in the first period and had the winning shootout goal in the seventh round.
