Andrei Vasilevskiy made 29 saves for his second consecutive shutout, helping the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 2-0 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre on Tuesday.
“Our guys are playing well all season long,” said Vasilevskiy, who has not allowed a goal in 164:29. “Sometimes I help them, sometimes they help me. We scored two huge goals in the second and just played very simple. That’s why we got a second shutout in a row. It’s all about our team, we’ve played really well the last couple games.”
The shutout was Vasilevskiy’s League-leading sixth of the season. Lightning coach Jon Cooper has been impressed with how Vasilevskiy has quickly grown into the starter’s role since taking over for Ben Bishop, who was traded to the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 26.
