Auston Matthews had a goal and an assist in his first game in two weeks to help the Toronto Maple Leafs stop a four-game road losing streak with a 3-2 win against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
Toronto (22-14-1) hadn’t won a road game since Dec. 9 at the Pittsburgh Penguins, Matthews last game before he sat out six with a concussion.
William Nylander had a goal and an assist, Ron Hainsey scored and Morgan Rielly had two assists. Frederik Andersen made 30 saves.
