November 11
Jim Matheson: Everyone has laughed off the rumor of Ales Hemsky and a 2nd to the Flyers for Wayne Simmonds.
Dave Isaac of the Courier Post: Wayne Simmonds reads papers and knows there are rumors out there.
“Rumors are rumors,” Simmonds said. “It’s a business. You never know what’s going to go on.”
“We’ve got a good squad in here,” the 25-year-old winger said. “We’ve got a really good team in here. We all know that. The onus is on us to play. We’ve already had a coaching change. It’s time that the players start owning up to what’s going on here. We’ve got to be responsible.”
Jonathan Willis: Willis wonders if there is any reason the Oilers GM Craig MacTavish shouldn’t call Panthers GM Dale Tallon to see what the cost of defenseman Tom Gilbert would be. Could fit on their second pairing.
Jim Matheson: Ilya Bryzgalov will start in Oklahoma City on Tuesday and let the Oilers knows how he feels. He may been more AHL game time or need some practices with the Oilers.
November 9
Ryan Rishaug: Don’t hold your breath on another Oilers trade coming soon. Sense is they are done for the time being, nothing imminent.
Dan Tencer: Oilers GM Craig MacTavish on the rumor mill: “Certainly no moves imminent and hopefully none for quite some time.”
Derek Van Diest: MacTavish said that rumors of them trading Jordan Eberle are ridiculous.
Brian Lawton: (8:31 PM last night) Ales Hemsky on the move to the Flyers for a forward and a defenseman, with their names starting with “S” … (8:50 PM – his next tweet) “For those wondering tonight we are putting out every rumour we hear because you can feel the desperation from some clubs with realization”
Bob Stauffer: “Some wild stuff out there…Eberle and Hemsky stuff. Total BS.”
Mark Spector: The Oilers are crazy about Flyers Wayne Simmonds. Spector thinks they would move Eberle or Yakupov for him.
November 8
2:51 PM
Darren Dreger: In the eyes of Oilers management, Jordan Eberle will be an Oiler forever. He’s not a trade target.
2:31 PM
Tim Panaccio: Panaccio has been told that the Flyers are talking with the Oilers about Jordan Eberle. Callups from the AHL or small trades won’t turn the Flyers around, it has to be an impact deal.
Jonathan Willis: There isn’t a Flyers defenseman worth Jordan Eberle, only forwards.
Joe Yerdon: Yerdon wonders why the Flyers would talk with the Oilers as they don’t have the defenseman they’re looking for.
Bruce Arthur: If they are talking: “it could be a panic-incompetence-sell-low singularity.”
Greg Wyshynski: Wyshynski wonders why the Oilers wouldn’t pick from the Panthers who have defensmen and a goalie.
Greg Wyshynski: “HEADLINE: Flyers Talking Eberle W/ Oilers ACTUAL CONVERSATION: “Can we haz Ebz?” “You haz defenderman we needz?” “LOL NOES!!!1!” “*click*””
