Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic: Shane Doan said on XTRA 910 that a contract is done between him and the Coyotes, and all he has to do is sign it when Greg Jamison acquires the team. Doan also confirmed that Jamison has the money to purchase the team. The list of teams that he’d consider joining is down to 2 or 3 teams if a deal with the Coyotes can’t be worked out. Kevin Kurz of the CSN California: A source confirmed that if Shane Doan is seeking a 4 year deal worth $30 million, the Sharks won’t be among the teams that would go that high. The Sharks won’t offer more than 3 years at about $4.5 million per season according to the source. If he wants to stay close to Phoenix, the Sharks and Canucks are the only Western Conference teams that are pursuing him.
NHL.com: Shane Doan said once again that he wants to stay in Phoenix.
“Right now I’m doing everything I can to stay there and that’s kind of my goal,” Doan said in an interview with TSN. “At the same time, I’m having to do some due diligence, now in the fact that the longer it takes the more likely and the harder it seems to be to get a deal done in Phoenix.”
“It’s one of those things. that I understand the fluidity of the market and the way that the market moves, but like I said I’m going to try to give Phoenix every chance I can,” Doan said.
“For me it’s going to be about my family and the right situation for us and the right situation for me as a player to have a chance to win and enjoy the game. And I think that’s a big part of it is being in the right spot and enjoying it. There’s obviously a few teams that fit that.”

Stu Hackel of Hockey Inside/Out: The Canadiens are still interested in Doan. Doan has been reluctant to fully explore his options while Jamison still pushes to buy the team. Details of their weekend conversation are not known. Jamison could be $20 million short to buy the team. Doan could be visiting the Canadiens this week.
Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: The Red Wings are still waiting on Shane Doan. Wings GM Ken Holland has spoken with Doan and agent Terry Bross numerous times this month. The Wings won’t give Doan a deal where he becomes the highest paid player on the team.
David Shoalts of the Globe and Mail: The Coyotes could have learned [yesterday] if Doan has run out of patience with the situation, and looked at the 6 offers he’s received. There was also a court hearing yesterday about the petition to put a sales-tax increase on a Glendale November ballot. The NHL has extended their agreement to manage the Jobing.com Arena, but if the NHL ends up owning the Coyotes for another year, it’s unlikely to get the $25 million from Glendale.

Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic: Shane Doan will speak with potential Coyotes buyer Greg Jamison today over the phone. Doan will hopefully gain some insight into the status of Jamison’s bid to buy the team. If he doesn’t come away reassured, talks with other teams will increase.
“We’re expecting some type of announcement or debriefing (Friday) regarding the ownership group, and hopefully we get good news and (General Manager) Don (Maloney) and I can start putting pencil to paper,” said Doan’s agent, Terry Bross. “If we don’t, I think we’re going to start to negotiate with some of the other clubs.”
16 teams have expressed interest, 6 have made formal offers.
“I say there are three or four that he’s very serious about,” Bross said. “There’s probably two more that he has a lot of interest in.”
“I wouldn’t be shocked if we had a decision next week,” Bross said.
Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province: A 3 year deal is the lowest term he’d accept, and it will likely take a 4 or 5 year deal. A list of interested teams are the Penguins, Flyers, Red Wings, Sharks, Canadiens, Rangers and Canucks.
“If it’s not the Coyotes, and we hope it is, we’re not going to chase the market,” Bross said. “You look at what happened last week. Shea Weber signed an offer sheet, but did not go to Philadelphia, and Rick Nash was traded to New York. The whole landscape changed. We have no problem slowing this train down.
“The teams that have been interested in [Doan], have all been great and understanding. No one has put pressure on him looking for an answer. The teams have been a pleasure to deal with.”
He won’t visit Vancouver as he’s already familiar with the area.

Craig Custance of ESPN: Custance notes that Shane Doan and Alexander Semin remain unsigned for different reasons. Doan, because he waiting to see what is happening with the Coyotes situation. Doan doesn’t appear to be a in hurry and is willing to wait and see what happens before signing elsewhere. The Penguins, Kings, Wings, Canucks, Sharks, Rangers and Sabres are all interested, but there isn’t optimism that he’ll actually leave. One GM is 90% sure he’ll stay in Phoenix. One GM when asked why Semin wasn’t signed, “[He] wants too much money.” Teams may be waiting for Doan before looking at Semin.
L.A. Lariviere via twitter: Doan’s agent said they’d consider the Canadiens and Penguins, added “Talked to 16 different clubs” Doan’s agent also said they could be setting sights on a new destination within 7 to 10 days.

“I still remain confident that we will be able to sign Shane,” Maloney said. “Nothing has changed in that respect. We still have regular communication despite everything you see and read.”

Ansar Khan of MLive: The Red Wings are still interested in Shane Doan and are willing to wait for him.
“I’ve had conversations with Shane Doan’s representatives,” Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said. “I told them we have interest.”
“We’re waiting a couple of days to see if this Jamison thing goes through,” Terry Bross, Doan’s agent, said on Monday. “Not all the petitions have been defeated. We’re waiting to see if the Jamison (deal) gets done.”
Doan is looking for a multi-year deal, and teams that are rumored to be interested include the Kings, Sharks, Canucks, Blackhawks, Penguins, Sabres and Rangers. If the Wings don’t get Doan, they may turn to Alexander Semin. Teams are reluctant to give Semin a long-term offer as clubs are concerned about his commitment. The Wings currently have 22 players signed at $53.3 million and still need to sign Kyle Quincey and Justin Abdelkader, which should cost them about $5 million. They hope to have Quincey signed before they go to arbitration. GM Holland talked with Tomas Holmstrom this week,
“I told Homer to take all the time you need,” Holland said. “If he decides he wants to play, then we’ll sit down and decide if we have (roster) space.”
Shelly Anderson via twitter: Confirms that the Penguins have made an offer for Shane Doan, and that there is mutual interest.

July 12
Kevin Allen of the USA Today: Shane Doan’s agent, Terry Bross, said yesterday that 16 teams have inquired, and “four or five” teams have already submitted offers. Doan is traveling back to Western Canada and Bross hoped to get in contact with him either last night or this morning to discuss their options. Initially Monday’s deadline was reported to be extended to next Monday, but Bross said that may not be the case.
“There is no relevance to the July 16th date for us,” he said. “That’s off the table.”
Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times: The Lightning are interested in Shane Doan, though it appears he isn’t interested in them.
“I’ve called and haven’t gotten a call back, so I assume there’s not an interest there,” general manager Steve Yzerman said. “That’s all I can say.”
Yzerman said it’s “not likely” that they will make any more moves this summer.
“You never know,” he said. “You continue to work your way and stay in touch with people around the league and see what’s going on, and if something fits be prepared to act. But for the most part I think we addressed a lot of needs. I want to keep an opportunity on our team for some of the younger guys that played so well for Norfolk to come in and have a chance to make the team. So, unless it’s a player I know is going to be better than one of those guys, we’re not going to fill a spot.”
Lisa Dillman via twitter: The Kings are waiting on Doan just like everyone else. GM Lombardi said they’ve been interested since the start of free agency.

Elliott Pap of the Vancouver Sun: It’s hard to see a scenario where Doan is willing to settle for less than the $4.55 million he’s been getting annually. The Canucks are currently at $67.2 million, and are able to exceed the $70.2 million cap by 10% in the summer. Their number will drop if/when they trade Roberto Luongo. The Canucks are a contender and Doan is from Western Canada. Doan has a relationship with Canucks assistant GM Laurence Gilman.
Jason Bothchord of the Vancouver Province: The Canucks are one of many teams interested in Doan. 2-3 warrant serious interest, and location, management, players and Stanley Cup chances will be factors according to Doan’s agent Terry Bross. Doan could get offers in the 4 or 5 year range, worth $5-6 million.
July 10
Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic: Shane Doan’s agent, Terry Bross:
“I expect by Tuesday we’ll probably start listening to some offers, get an idea of where he kind of fits in the market, and take that next step,” said Terry Bross,Doan’s agent. “I wouldn’t say anything’s imminent.”
“Pending the outcome of that conversation, it could go one of two ways,” Bross said. “I would think if they don’t have the signatures and it looks like the Jamison thing is going to go (through), then Don and I would get a little more serious in our dialogue about a new contract.
“If they do have the signatures or something throws a wrench in it and they say we’re looking at two months before we can make a decision, I think we have to listen to some other offers.”
“There are two or three that he’d take a long hard look at, and it’d break his heart to do so,” Bross said.
Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun: Doan’s agent said there are as many as 16 teams interested in Doan. The Maple Leafs are included, although as of Friday, they hadn’t contacted them.

The Wings are prepared to fly out and meet him face-to-face if need be.
David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News: According to Doan’s agent, there is a “strong mutual interest” between the Sharks and Doan, and they “have been in contact with Mr. Wilson.”
