The Toronto Maple Leafs signed goaltender Ben Scrivens to a two-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.
Scrivens played 12 games for the Maple Leafs in 2011-12 season garnering a record of 4-5-2 with a 3.13 goals against average and a .903 save percentage.
The 26-year-old, however, spent most of last year with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. In 39 regular season games with the Marlies, the 6-2, 192-pound netminder had a record of 22-15-1 with four shutouts, a 2.04 GAA and a .926 save percentage.
It is expected that Scrivens could start the 2012-13 season as James Reimer’s backup.
