MONTREAL — The Montreal Canadiens signed checking forward Ryan White to a one-year, US$687,500 contract Tuesday.
The 24-year-old White, who earned $625,000 last season, was limited to three assists in 20 games last year with Montreal after suffering a sports hernia during training camp.
The Brandon, Man., native has two goals and eight assists in 63 career NHL games. The rugged right-winger was picked 66th overall in the 2006 NHL entry draft.
