Jacob Trouba’s Player Profile
Jacob Trouba is the crowning jewel of this year’s draft class for the United States National Team Development Program. The Minnesota-born defenseman was the only draft-eligible player to earn a spot on the Team USA World Junior roster and looked right at home playing against bigger and older players. Trouba has been touted as a talented defenseman with good speed who can join the rush and also play with a physical edge. The physical side of Trouba’s game should only get better as he fills out his frame and rounds out the other areas of his game. Trouba has verbally committed to play for Michigan University in the 2012-13 season, although the perennial OHL powerhouse Kitchener Rangers hold his CHL rights and given the recent trend of highly regarded university commits defecting to the CHL, (JT Miller, Connor Murphy)Trouba isn’t guaranteed to be playing as a Michigan Wolverine next year. Jacob Trouba projects to be an all-around defenseman who can play a physical game and contribute in the offensive zone.
